Productivity – A Key to Generating Leads on Line – Must Do vs To Do List

To Do List

Must Do List – not To Do List

Ditch your To Do List!.  You will be more productive.

Instead create two lists

    • A Must Do List
      • A Like to Get Done Today List

This is a Better To Do List!

Must Do List vs To Do List

I have been reading a book by Jason Fladlien and what he said
about my To Do Lost makes sense to me.

While it may sound like semantics,  he suggests that
you do NOT use a To Do List.

Every night, he writes a list of things for tomorrow.
Divide the list into MUST DO items and I’D LIKE
TO GET DONE items.

There is power in the names and naming something
MUST DO gives it far more power than To Do.  We
all know that on any given day, the odds on our
finishing our To Do list are virtually NIL.  This
gives us implied permission to not do things on the
list.

This permission does not exist for items on a MUST DO
LIST.    Those items must be done and by all rights, they
should be done first.

The second part of the list is more like the traditional
To Do List.   There are fun things you like to do,
there are things you don’t want to forget, but that aren’t
critical (yet), and other items that you need on a To Do List,
but that don’t qualify fo the MUST DO LIST.

Jason’s MUST DO LIST  rang a chord with me.  It is a
slightly different twist to the techniques taught by the
folds who created the Franklin Planner.  They teach you
to list you items and then classify them as A, B or C.

Items with an “A” are MUST DO Items.  Thinks like “Pick our 8
year old up from school” or “Pay the power before they
shut it off” are MUST DO ITEMS> Giving tasks related
to your business this same priority is VERY powerful.

PAPER AND PENCIL LISTS

Jason went one step further.  He strongly suggests
using a paper MUST DO LIST.  This has several
advantages:

  • It is faster than high tech.
  • Place it by your works space and it is ALWAYS there
  • Most of us still make connections between our
brains and our hands writing something that don’t
    exists when we type.

SUMMARY: Must Do List vs To Do List

Create a MUST DO LIST and write it down on paper at
night before you go to bed.  This actually sets your
subconscious mind – your internal search engine to
work while you sleep.  Productivity will go up.
