Blog Posts for Pinterest Loves My BlogMaking your writing extra attractive by tweaking your Blog Posts for Pinterest lovers is easy and I’ll show you how.

The name of the game in today’s SEO world is “natural Social Media backlinks.”   In simple terms, a natural backlink is one where a human liked your material enough to share it with their friends.  There are a number of ways to “share,” however to help you they need to include a way for people to click on the “shared material” and be directed to your blog.

Let’s make it easier for your readers to include you on their Pinterest boards…

Make a small change in your thinking and a the “Pin It Button Pro” plugin you can make it much easier for readers to pin images from your blog posts.

The end result is going to be more Images with Quotes in them and a Pin It Button that appears on top of any image when a reader hovers their mouse over any image in your post.  All the reader needs to do is move the mouse to the image they like, click on the Pin It button and choose a board in Pinterest.

Technical NOTE:  The backlinks will be No Follow – so that are not a strong as we would like.  On the other hand every little bit helps and an image can go viral and have dozens or hundreds of copies – all pointing at your blog.

Here is what you need to do to optimize your blog posts for Pinterest:

One Time Setup Steps For Improving Blog Posts for Pinterest

  1. Find images designed to have quotes or sayings placed in them! Before you start to write your posts collect images that are designed to have word put in them.  For example: Sticky Notes with a blank area.   (Note:  I renamed any images from my collection that were designed to have text put into them.   I renamed each one so that its name started with “Enter Text-…”  That makes the text ready images easy to find in my images folder.)
  2. Google for “WordPress plugin Pin It Button” and upgrade to the Pro version (about $30).
  3. Install it and set it up.
  4. (Note:  I had to turn the YARP plugin off.  It conflicted with Pin It Button Pro.)

NOTE:  A simple “Sticky Note with a Pin in it” implies Pinterest to some people.  Putting a key point (a good standalone quote)  on an image like the one on the right is a natural for ending up on Pinterest.

There are only two steps that I was interested in when installing the Pro version

First I had to enter the license key

Second I made sure that the Hover feature was turned on.

Installing the license key.

You will receive an email with your license key.  After you install the plugin there is a menu option in the left sidebar menu in WordPerss.   The menu option is “Pin It Button Pro”.  When you click on it a screen with several tabs appears.  The license key is entered in the “Support” tab.

Note:  If you have the regular (free version) installed you will have to at least deactivate it before the Pro version will work.  The Free Version does NOT HAVE the HOVER feature.

Installing The Hover Feature

It should already be active.  Another of the tabs visible when you found the “Support” tab is the “Hover” tab.  Click on that and make sure the feature is active.  You can choose where the button shows up on your images when a reader hovers his or her mouse over an image.  I chose ‘Lower Right”.

How To Set Up Your Blog Posts For Pinterest In the Future

  1. Look for quotes while you are writing.  Either by famous people or key things that you say.
  2. Find one of the images you collected that is designed to have text put into it.
  3. Put your quote into an image (use online editors like Pixlr.com or I use Photoshop Elements – about $70 and edits most of the files that the $700 Photoshop creates.)
  4. Insert images into your post (usually on the right so they don’t break the left margin.  Centered is okay too for larger images.)
  5. Make sure to put the gist of the quote into the ALT field when you insert the image into your post.  The ALT field text is what appears as the default text for Pinterest when someone pins your image.  MAKE IT KEYWORD RICH.

That’s really all there is to it.

A Little Change Will Generate More Natural Backlinks from Pinterest Lovers 🙂

When you write think about making optimizing your blog posts for Pinterest.  It just means a few more quotes in images.  The “Pin It Button Pro” plugin does the rest.
