Blogging and Internet Marketing Overwhelm – How do They Connect?

Anyone who follows my blog post at all will see two themes that I consistently talk about.  The two primary themes are:  Blogging and Internet Marketing Overwhelm and Frustration.  The question for some is how these two topics are related.

Blogging and Internet Marketing Overwhelm – Crushing the Overwhelm!

Many people come on-line looking for leads for their business or looking for an on-line business.  It doesn’t take long to discover that there is “training” available everywhere.  Much of this training is actually free content leading to an up-sell for some kind of training course or eBook.  What follows is months of learning about this and that, spending money on different techniques, and trying out different methods. There are Bright Shiny Things everywhere – even though the person new to Internet Marketing doesn’t know what a “Bright Shiny Thing” is.

Fast forward several months and almost every time you will find the solo entrepreneur totally frustrated and overwhelmed.  Nothing seems to work and yet everything they learn seems so reasonable.  It frustrates the heck out the solo entrepreneur that there is always something missing.

As I have researched this topic (and been through the process myself), I’ve been developing Dr. Hale’s 3 Step Method for Crushing Overwhelm.  Briefly these steps involve 1) finding a two tier mentoring/coaching system, 2) picking ONE Plan and sticking to it and 3) Check and Adjust (with the help of your coaches and mentors).  Most of the top trainers agree on one point – you need your own on-line real estate.  A home base as it were.  There is some disagreement about what this base should be, but they almost all agree that owning a blog is a good thing.  This is the one piece of real estate that will grow in value and that can’t be taken away from you.  Free accounts on any platform can disappear overnight.  Not only can they disappear, but there is very little chance of getting reinstated.  The monster platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, and others) cannot and do not give the customer service you get with paid services, so getting your account back is very unlikely.  I personally know several people who have lost hundreds of YouTube Videos or lost their Facebook accounts.  Sometimes it is a misunderstanding.  Sometimes it is a rule change.  Sometimes we don’t have a clue – guilt by association is as close as we can figure.

Build A Blog

That brings us to Blogging and Internet Marketing Overwhelm. The bottom line is that at the core, succeeding online is picking a track to run on and developing a plan.  Once you have a plan you must stay laser focused on that plan and run on a single track.  I’m suggesting that building your own blog should be part of that track.  For me Blogging and Crushing Internet Marketing Overwhelm and Frustration go hand in hand.
